Greetings . . .

As many of you already know, I began serving as interim minister on February 14. I am grateful to be called to serve with you for “just such a time as this” and am looking forward to our journey together over the next several months as you search for and call a new settled minister.

Interim ministry is unique in that it is task specific. Interim ministers jump right into the deep water so to speak, learning about congregational life as quicky as possible to assess what needs to be done to call a new settled minister. I will look at how the congregation functions, how people interact, and the ways in which Christian faith is expressed and lived out. I will ask what, if anything, needs to be talked about, resolved, or changed. I will mediate conflict if needed and help guide the congregation through a process of evaluation and visioning, that will also be used to help write the Local Church Profile, which is what prospective ministers will read. Gratefully, I will not do all this work alone. I will work with an interim ministry/transitional team, a ministerial search team, with each of you, and with God’s help and guidance.

In addition to these specialized tasks, I will be leading worship and preaching, doing pastoral care, meeting with church committees, and possibly leading a Bible study if there is interest (Mary Ann Proffitt is doing an amazing job with the women’s studies and with Confirmation!)

I also serve on the Southeast Wisconsin Association UCC Church and Ministry Team, the Wisconsin Conference UCC Commission on Ministry, and I am the person who updates the Association website and assembles the annual meeting book. During my free time I enjoy walking our dog, Sequoia, reading, listening to music, and watching motorsports. I love nearly everything Baby Yoda/Grogu themed. I live in western Greenfield with my husband and adult son and my home congregation is Emanuel UCC, Hales Corners.

By the time you read this, I hope to have met and connected with many of you during fellowship time after worship. If I have not and you would like to meet, my church office hours are Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.   You are welcome to drop by or schedule a time to meet that fits your needs. My schedule is flexible and varies weekly. My email is revcmwilke@gmail.com and my phone is 414-688-2503 (talk or text).

In joyful hope,

Pastor Christine Wilke
