Youth Group
Mary Ann Proffitt

All Church Rummage

A huge thank you to everyone that helped with the rummage sale through donations, pricing, set up, selling or clean up!  We cannot thank you enough!!!   Because of all of your help we were able to raise close to $3000 for our youth group!!  A special thank you to Bonnie Schwalbach & her husband Jim, Linda Hink, Debra Hink & Mary Gross for all of the pricing help in the weeks prior to the rummage!  Thank you everyone, we couldn't have done it without you!

Mission Trip

Urban Immersion Service Retreat to Minneapolis

What a wonderful learning experience everyone had!  We started our first evening with a poverty simulation where we had to budget for all of life's necessities and deal with the unexpected all on a very small budget.

On our first day of work we had beautiful weather!  We were divided into 2 groups. Some sorted clothing and worked in the Farmers market serving those in need at Prince of Peace Outpost. Others washed & folded laundry and prepared lunch at Harbor Lights, then visited the Hallie Q Brown Center, where they started a garden and sorted food donations for their food pantry. We had spaghetti for dinner provided by the retreat center and then listened to a powerful lesson from our program speaker who shared her life story of poverty.

The second day one group was washing walls & furniture, measuring detergent, prepping lunch in the kitchen, playing with kids to give their families some respite time at a family homeless center. Others made food packets for the Feed My Starving Children program for kids in Honduras. Both groups then spent the afternoon at different ARC Thrift Shops sorting & pricing items & clothing. We finished the day with pizza/ice cream, group reflection & a brainstorming session to come up with plans for our own church fight against poverty.

On Saturday, we had a short stop at the Mall of America & then traveled home.  We learned & experienced so much these past few days in Minneapolis about poverty, dignity, respect, charity, justice, service & advocacy.  The youth have a plan to educate, serve & advocate for those who can't always do so for themselves.  Look for more to come!!

Youth should sign up at the welcome table to participate in any of these activities:

 Vacation Bible School

Mount Olympus – Wisconsin Dells Trip

Tuesday, August 1stWe’ll meet at church at 8 am and return to church at 8:30 pm.

We were able to get an online deal for 30 tickets for $10 each! So that will be the cost of the trip plus lunch. The park does not allow us to bring food in so please make sure you bring $ for lunch. The youth group fund will pay for our pizza dinner before leaving the Dells. Friends are welcome!  Sign up at the welcome table as soon as possible.

Hunger Task Force Stockbox Packing

Friday, August 25th Meet at church at 8:15 am.

We’ll pack boxes from 9am to 12pm and then go somewhere for lunch after. Please bring money for lunch with you.  We’ll return to church by 1:30 pm. The congregation is encouraged to sign-up to help with this event (at the welcome table) as we need 1 adult per 3 students.
